Cortes Island School is located in downtown Manson's Landing. Cortes Island, in the Desolation Sound region of Canada’s west coast, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places on the face of the earth. Separated from “civilization” by two ferry rides, we are easy to access, but “on the way to nowhere” and relatively undiscovered.

Cortes is surrounded by clean salt water and snow capped mountains. The land and sea are home to bald eagles, many species of seabirds, shore birds and marine mammals, as well as deer and other smaller creatures. There are wonderful hiking trails, parks and beaches to enjoy.

Much of what is special about Cortes has to do with the people here. Many have grown up and gone to school here, and many have been attracted to Cortes from afar, resulting in a rich mix of talents and skills and lifestyles. We all feel that we have found paradise ... You’ll find friendly people who make you feel welcome and give you the same sense of security that you might have felt as a child in a small rural town. It still feels that way here!
